Ashley Morgan is a director, writer, producer and actress fascinated with the concept of truth and reality. She has a journalism background and is an avid researcher. Since studying both media theory and art practice at UC Berkeley, she has been interested in the social implications and impacts of narratives. She often makes art that employs performance to illustrate her ideas about media. In her filmic work she likes to mix documentary elements with dry comedy to evoke a dark surrealism.
She has directed documentary advertising work for NYX Make up and We Are Journeymen natural deodorant, and has produced doc work for Bravo, Snapchat, Netflix, PBS and ATTN:.
Her work has been featured on Hypebeast, NoBudge, Pitchfork and Billboard.
Daddy’s Playground - the short film she wrote, produced and starred in with co-creator Boni Mata, screened at the 2018 Hollyshorts and Mammoth Film festivals and is now available on NoBudge. Ashley and Boni were selected for the first Short to Feature Lab, developing Daddy’s Playground into a feature for production in 2022.
